Visualize being halfway through a dream.
Then, exiting into waking life remembering what you had experienced. My art situates itself between these moments and acts as a discursive portal between them.
In practical terms, my works exist at the junction of drawing, digital collage/imaging and painting. They position the viewer in meditative realities and invite them to immerse themselves in a mystery.
The desire to explore such elusive sensations and realities comes from my own transcendental and near-death experiences and reflects my interest in altered states of consciousness for their potential to heal trauma, problem-solving, reprogram perception and the perception of ideologies.
In my work, memory, the bizarre and the overlooked come into play and shape enigmatic images. In everyday life, ideas for paintings appear as sudden insights. I interpret this phenomenon of self-organizing ideas as being the result of a culmination of experiences. Fusing inspiration from pop culture, literature and life. Through my process, these ideas and insights solidify.
